Concert originally scheduled for 2020 set to take place Saturday

Seattle rapper Macklemore will be performing at Beasley Coliseum for Family Weekend after postponing the event twice due to the pandemic.
Beasley assistant director Russ Driver manages event set-up which includes lighting, sound and other amenities in the venue.
Macklemore was supposed to perform in 2020 for Spring Family Weekend, but the event was canceled because there seemed to be no end in sight for the pandemic and the resulting mandates, Driver said.
“Between Macklemore, his management and the Coliseum, we kind of felt an obligation to the people who had originally bought tickets to get to come here,” he said.
The event will take place Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and the doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
Beasley holds about 7,000 people, and masks or proof of vaccination are no longer required at the event, he said.
Tickets can be purchased online at TicketsWest for $64.50 for the general public. WSU staff, faculty and students get a $5 discount for $59.50. Driver said tickets can also be purchased at the door the day of the event.
Driver said there are a lot of people who have purchased tickets, but there are still plenty of seats still available.
“We’re a fairly big arena when it comes to a college venue,” Driver said. “We’ve been doing this for a long time, so we know what it takes to put on a successful show.”
It does not matter what type of music comes to the venue, Driver is just excited to be back to planning and putting on shows, he said.
