SAM TAYLOR, Evergreen sports co-editor

Hello and welcome to the Wazzu Weekly roundup of Washington state sports news! For those back in the swing of school, welcome back to Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, Everett or wherever you may be.

My name is Sam Taylor and I am honored to be the fall 2022 sports editor for the Daily Evergreen. If you are a new student, Welcome to Wazzu.

It is an exciting time for sports at WSU. Head coach Jake Dickert is an inspiring force on the Palouse and has football primed for success. Soccer and volleyball are underway as two of the most successful programs in school history. If you are in Pullman, do not hesitate to watch history unfold before your very eyes every chance you get.

TREVOR JUNT, Evergreen Reporter • August 18, 2022

Dickert has come into a WSU football team and has changed the entire culture. In the past, during the Mike Leach era, players viewed themselves as just soldiers for Leach to place wherever he desired….

Dickert has come to be loved by his players, WSU leadership and the fan-base by fitting into Pullman perfectly. A style much different than his two predecessors at the football head coach position.
