Gordon is golden
October 30, 2013
Start- Josh Gordon, WR, Browns
Gordon struggled in Green Bay Week 7, accumulating just 21 receiving yards. In Week 8 he bounced back in grand fashion against a tough Kansas City defense, piling up 132 yards and a score. The new starter at quarterback in Cleveland, Jason Campbell, showed that he will give Gordon his targets. This week at home against a Baltimore defense that has been inconsistent and Gordon should be heavily targeted once again.
Sit – Fred Jackson, RB, Bills
Jackson has been somewhat of a surprise this season, as many expected him to take a back seat to the highly touted C.J. Spiller. Spiller’s struggles have led to Jackson’s success. However, this week might not be so pretty as Buffalo takes on Kansas City, one of the toughest run defenses in the NFL. Steer clear of the old workhorse if your running back depth allows it.
Start – Russell Wilson, QB, Seahawks
Wilson has once again been the model of efficiency in Seattle’s power run offense. Success in this style of offense doesn’t always lead to gaudy numbers for a quarterback, as Wilson has been consistently average this season. After back to back road games, Seattle will return home to take on a fledgling Tampa Bay squad that Cam Newton just ravaged through the air and the ground last week. Expect Russell to do the same in what will likely be a home blowout for Seattle.
Sit – Giovani Bernard, RB, Bengals
After a hot start this year from Bernard, the rookie’s workload and production have steadily decreased over the course of past weeks, being held under 10 carries in each of his past two games. This week Cincy goes on the road to take on a middle-of the road Miami defense, and although success could be had on the ground, Cincinnati’s recent success through the air may be the route the Bengals take once again, further limiting Bernard’s upside.
Start – DeMarco Murray, RB, Cowboys
Murray came close to returning from injury in Week 8 versus Detroit, but ended up being ruled out at game time. This week Dallas takes on a Minnesota defense that has been ravaged by the run, most recently by Eddie Lacy and James Starks last Sunday night. Monitoring whether he plays or not will be key, but if he does suit up, Murray is a solid play this week.
