Andy Reid secured his legacy as one of the greatest head coaches of all time on Sunday.

During Super Bowl LVII, Reid led the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35. He and Bill Belichick are the only active coaches to currently win two Super Bowls.

He is now the 14th head coach to ever win two or more Super Bowls. He is bound for greatness and to be enshrined for all of existence in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Reid is only the third coach to beat his former team in the Super Bowl. The first was Weeb Ewbank, who beat his former team, the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III with the New York Jets. The second was Jon Gruden, who beat his former team, the Oakland Raiders, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII.

It is important to look at Reid and his past with the Eagles. He coached the Eagles from 1999–2012. Reid is the winningest coach in the history of the Eagles with 130 wins.

Reid had eight 10-win seasons with the Eagles and led them to the Super Bowl in 2004 when they lost against the Patriots. They also went to the NFC Championship four straight times, in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. Losing in all but 2004.

In 2012 he was fired by Philadelphia after going 4-12, then was hired by the Chiefs four days later.

Reid said that he loved his time in Philadelphia.

“I had 14 great years there,” Reid said. “I loved every minute of it. It’s a great organization.”

Once he took over in 2013 the Chiefs found great success. Since he took over, Kansas City has only missed the playoffs once, in 2014, finishing with a 9-7 record.

They were good with Alex Smith as the quarterback and won their first playoff game in 2015 since 1993. They won a few playoff games but could not get over the hump of the Divisional Round.

This success turned around after Patrick Mahomes took over as quarterback in 2018. He was drafted in 2017 but sat behind Smith that year and they lost in the Wild Card to the Tennessee Titans.

Reid is known for being an offensive genius. In 2018 he had Mahomes as first-year as a starter, Mahomes threw for 50 touchdowns and over 5,000 yards, winning the NFL MVP.

Kansas City has gone to the AFC Championship five straight years since then. Reid is the first coach in history to have 10 or more playoff wins with multiple teams. He is only behind Belichick for most wins in playoff history.

Reid showed off his talents with excellent play calls on Sunday. He is only the fourth head coach in NFL history to win more than 200 regular-season games and two Super Bowls.

A dynasty has begun in Kansas City and future Hall-of-Famer Reid is leading this charge.
