True freshman Louie Hinchliffe has had an incredible freshman season, setting records for WSU and becoming the only Coug to qualify for the NCAA championships in Austin, Texas. Hinchliffe was the only freshman to qualify at all for the NCAA Championships, something he did when he tied WSU’s program record of 10.17 seconds in the 100-meter dash at the West Preliminary Round.

Hinchliffe finished 20th overall in the men’s 100-meter dash, missing his and the Cougs’ record by only .2 seconds. The Sheffield, England, native will hopefully continue to develop with the team. He has the potential to be one of the most successful Cougs of all time.

In other track and field news, the Cougs added a huge piece in Daj Williams, who was the 2023 California State Champion in the triple jump.

She is a massive get for the Cougs, and will be part of a track and field team with high aspirations next year.
