The Cougars golf team made the trip to Canada on Sept. 16, where they competed in the Canadian Collegiate Invitational.
Hosted by the University of British Columbia at Oviinbyrd Golf Club, WSU shot a combined 13-over par in the first two rounds, putting them in ninth place as they begin round three.
Ben Borgida had the best day individually. He started slow, shooting two-over in the first round, but bounced back to shoot four-under in the second round. With a total score of two-under, the redshirt sophomore enters round three in 14th place.
Junior Sam Renner finished day one at par, shooting one-under and one-over in the first two rounds. That was good for 21st place overall.
Freshman Dylan Burcham joins them in the top 30. In his second collegiate tournament, Burcham scored three-over in round one, and improved to par in round two. His continued improvement was noticeable, including a pair of birdies in the second round.
Drayton Joseph struggled all day, finishing at 12-over through the first two rounds. Franklin Lydra finished the day at 23-over. The pair of seniors sit towards the back of the pack, in 49th and 55th place.
Missouri leads the field with a score of 22-under. Notre Dame and Michigan are currently tied for second with one round to go, with both teams at 11-under.
