Alabama takes over the top spot; The Big 12 carousel continues to spin around.
*Seeds:
- Alabama
- Ohio State
- Miami
- BYU
- Texas
- Tennessee
- Georgia
- Oregon
- Penn State
- Michigan
- Missouri
- UNLV
*Seeds are not what the teams are ranked. Miami and BYU are not ranked third and fourth in the country. They are the third and fourth seeds due to the top four highest-ranked conference champions being top four seeds and receiving byes. The fifth-highest-ranked conference champion gets a spot in the playoff. UNLV is not ranked 12th in the country.
Ole Miss and Indiana are the first teams out. Indiana looked good in a 42-28 win against Maryland. They are flying under the radar until they play teams in the top tier of the Big Ten. If Ole Miss can bounce back from Saturday’s loss to Kentucky, they will be fine, but they will have to capitalize on every opportunity they can to get back into the top 12.
BYU holds the Big 12 automatic qualifying spot at the moment. In the carousel that the Big 12 is right now, this could change next week and every week after that until a team makes their mark in the conference. Right now, the presumed top teams in the conference are getting manhandled in games they should win. This is purely based on eye test, but Iowa State has struggled to get much going, while BYU is playing the best in all three facets of the game.
