Teams that dropped: Utah, Miami
Utah was the team that fell the furthest. It feels like they are going through a similar injury situation with QB Cam Rising. Last year, he was only supposed to miss the first few games of the season, and it ended up being the whole season. This season, he was only supposed to miss a game, but Saturday was the third straight game he missed. The Utes look like a repeat of last year. The potential is there, but the injuries are holding them back, making them a mediocre team.
The big question with Miami is, who have they beaten? Virginia Tech has been the toughest opponent they have played, a 2-3 ACC team, and Miami struggled to put them away. Quarterback Cam Ward had three turnovers in that game, all due to questionable decisions, and the win was controversial. The Hurricanes need to pick it up because they have a much more difficult schedule the rest of the way.
Biggest Risers: Notre Dame, Clemson, LSU
Just like last week, Clemson is one of the biggest risers on the list. The Tigers struggled with Stanford and let the Cardinal stay in the game for three quarters before closing the game out. It is nice to see them be able to finish in the final 15 minutes of a game.
Notre Dame still does not look like a playoff team, but Riley Leonard found a rhythm throwing the ball and they led the whole game against Louisville. They deserve to move up a few spots.
LSU, in the past six quarters, has found the playmakers they want to use. Garrett Nussmeier is starting to connect with Kyren Lacy, CJ Daniels and Mason Taylor. Caden Durham balances it out with a great running attack. You add all that up, and you have a team that is hitting on all cylinders going into the back half of the schedule.
Newcomers: Indiana
Here come the Hoosiers. Curt Cignetti brought to Indiana what he had at James Madison and Elon before. With Ohio transfer, Kurtis Rourke and James Madison, and transfer Elijah Surratt, the Hoosiers are pass-heavy, but they can run if they need to. Rourke worked with Hall of Fame head coach Frank Solich at Ohio, and it is showing now. Indiana has a bright future ahead and it starts with a favorable conference schedule.
