This is a weak lineup of games this weekend. There is one ranked matchup and it involves the team ranked 25th, so this week we will have a new spin on the preview. Since it is a bye week for Washington State, here are some matchups for Cougar fans to watch this weekend.
West Virginia at Oklahoma State
Why should Washington State fans watch: Washington State transfer De’Zhaun Stribling is the leading receiver for OK State. He is ninth in the country in receiving yards with 502. The Cowboys have struggled against Big 12 title contenders the last couple of weeks, so Gundy and the pokes offense will rely on Stribling to come through for them.
Texas Tech at Arizona
Why should Washington State fans watch: Washington State transfer Josh Kelly is the leading receiver for the Red Raiders. He is twelfth in the country with 487 receiving yards. Texas Tech’s only loss this year has been to the Cougars, and the better they do, the better it makes Washington State look in comparison. Arizona is coming off a big win against Utah. Could this be a trap game for the Wildcats?
Utah State at Boise StateÂ
Why should Washington State fans watch: Every Washington State fan is still demoralized by Ashton Jeanty doing what he wanted against the Cougar defense. If it makes Coug fans feel any better, he did that against Oregon too, and will continue to embarrass defenses for the rest of the season. Why not cheer him on and watch history?Â
Colorado State at Oregon State
Why should Washington State fans watch: The other half of the Pac-2 still plays this weekend. Oregon State’s only loss has come at the hands of Oregon and has reached the Mountain West part of their schedule outside of going to Berkley to face Cal on October 26th and face Washington State in Corvallis on November 23th.
Michigan at Washington
Why should Washington State fans watch: Why not watch the Huskies to cheer against them, especially against a top-10 team. Michigan is a run-heavy team, so watching the Wolverines run the clock and manage time of possession is the most demoralizing thing. This game reminds me of the 2021 matchup between the two teams when Blake Corum ran all over UW’s defense and McNamara went 7-for-15 for 44 passing yards, but Michigan ran for 343 yards. Welcome to the Big Ten.
Miami at Cal
Why should Washington State fans watch: This game has everything. Washington State transfer Cam Ward is a Heisman nominee, Cal is a former Pac-12 team and College Gameday is in Berkley for the first time in history. Anyone who tells you they know what is going to happen in this game is lying to you.
