Evans Kurui, WSU freshman cross country runner, has won his third straight West Coast Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week award.
Kurui finished in second place in a field of 166 at the Joe Piane Invitational in South Bend, Ind. He raced the 8K, finishing with a time of 22:24.7, coming in three seconds behind the leader.
Kurui has already won two races this year and now has a second-place finish to add to his resume. Not only that but Kurui was also named National Runner of the Week by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association after he won the Cougar Classic.
At the Cougar Classic, he posted a course record time of 22:46.8. Kurui is from Kenya and has gotten off to a fast start since arriving at WSU.
