The Moscow Farmers Market just wrapped up its 49th season, with the last market of the being held on Saturday.
From the first Saturday in May to the last Saturday in October, the streets of downtown Moscow filled with vendors and attendees. The locally loved Moscow Farmers Market stretched a total of 26 weeks.
The event draws in an average of 7,500 adults within its operating hours of 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, said Amanda Argona, Moscow community events manager. These patrons shop from around 50 core vendors who attend the market every week, as well as around 20 rotating vendors.
Vendor spots were added to the lineup this year, with the new spaces expanding the market to Fourth Street with 10 vendors.
“Training customers to go down to a new section of the market is actually a lot harder than most people realize,” Argona said.
She said it is important to have a variety of vendors in those new spots and ensuring the vendors are satisfied with the traffic their booths are receiving.
One setback this year was the discontinuation of SNAP EBT services due to a local non-profit dissolving. Argona said she has high hopes that the issue will be resolved by next season and SNAP EBT benefits will be reinstated.
Throughout every season, there are a variety of programs and mini market events that occur. Some of the most notable include Bicycle Benefits, which provides those who travel to the market via bicycle with discounts on vendor products, and the Power of Produce Club which gives children ages 5-12 the opportunity to learn about a variety of fruits and vegetables.
The Moscow Farmers Market, located in Downtown Moscow along Main Street, will return on May 3, 2025. Updates and further information can be found on the City of Moscow website.
