WSU announced Friday the addition of a road contest at James Madison University to complete its 2025 football schedule.
The game is scheduled for Nov. 22, 2025, at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Va. It will be the first meeting in the two programs history. The addition finalizes WSU’s road schedule marking its sixth away game.
“We are thrilled to finalize our full football schedule for next season,” said WSU Director of Athletics Anne McCoy. “The 2025 season includes contests against new opponents playing Gesa Field, a September Apple Cup matchup in Pullman, as well as challenging road games against SEC and ACC opponents in Mississippi and Virginia. It’s a schedule our fans will be excited for.”
The Cougs will play three of their first four games of the 2025 season at home for the second consecutive season.
JMU made the jump from the FCS level to FBS in 2022, competing in the Sun Belt conference and winning the Sun Belt East division in both of the schools first two seasons. The Dukes put together 8-3 and 11-1 seasons respectively under former head coach Curt Cignetti, who has led Indiana to an 8-0 start in 2024 after departing JMU.
JMU is 6-2 in 2024 under first year head coach Bob Chesney including a 70-50 win over North Carolina of the ACC on the road. The jump to the FBS level and immediate success have come following a dominant reign at the FCS level including national titles in 2004 and 2016 and 18 FCS playoff appearances.
The matchup will be one featuring an up-and-coming premier Group of 5 opponent that will bolster the Cougars 2025 schedule.
