In their home opener on Monday, the Cougars found fourth-quarter magic from true freshman Charlotte Abraham, who hit a crucial three-pointer to help the Cougs reach overtime and eventually win the game.
Abraham comes to Pullman from Cambrai, France, playing for Villeneuve. She won a silver medal in the 2023 FIBA 3×3 U18 World Cup in 2023.
The six-foot guard is lefthanded and is skilled behind the three-point line.
“She is a seasoned, experienced, mature competitor,” said head coach Kamie Ethridge when she joined the roster earlier this year.
In her debut with the Cougs, she scored 12 points in 24 minutes, going three-for-seven in three-pointers.
“She is a serious athlete who wants to maximize her talent and potential,” said Ethridge.
With the Cougs trailing by a point late in the fourth quarter, Abraham sunk her third three, which gave the Cougs a two-point lead. Eastern wound up tying the game, but Wazzu went on to win in overtime.
Abraham also contributed six rebounds and two steals in the Cougars one-point win.
