December has arrived and students are hard at work preparing for final exams as the fall semester wraps up. Amid the hustle and bustle, the holiday season brings opportunities for celebration and stress relief before students head home for winter break.
Pullman is buzzing with holiday cheer, offering events to help students, families and the community come together. Here is a guide to some of the must-attend events happening this month:
Up All Night
When: 6–10 p.m. Thursday
Where: Compton Union Building, Butch’s Den, Junior Ballroom and Senior Ballroom
What: Hosted by the Student Entertainment Board, “Up All Night” invites students to take a break from studying and relax. Here is what is happening in each space:
- Butch’s Den: Sound Bath (6–8 p.m.) and Sanctuary Yoga (8:30–10 p.m.)
- Junior Ballroom: Cookie Decorating, Ornament Painting and Stuff-A-Plush activities all night.
- Senior Ballroom: Inflatable Games where participants can win tickets for an end-of-night raffle. Prizes will be drawn at 9:30 p.m. and you must be present to win.
Holiday Celebration
When: 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Thursday
Where: Lewis Alumni Centre
What: The WSU Alumni Association invites students and the community to step into the holiday spirit. Activities include card and letter-making stations and photos with Santa Butch from noon–2 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations for the Cougar Food Pantry, which supports students facing food insecurity.
Note: This event coincides with graduation commencement, so expect a lively atmosphere.
Home for the Holidays
When: 2 p.m. Saturday
Where: Bryan Hall
What: The WSU School of Music presents “Home for the Holidays,” a free concert featuring WSU’s major instrumental and vocal ensembles. The event includes a sing-along and a silent auction, with items like gift baskets, movie tickets, handcrafted goods and more. Proceeds from the auction benefit music student scholarships.

December Movie Marathon
When: Through Dec. 6, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. daily through Friday
Where: CUB Auditorium
What: The SEB’s “December Movie Marathon” features free movies for students (with the Involve app) and $5 general admission for others. Attendees can enjoy complimentary drinks, popcorn and candy.

- Dec. 5: “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
- Dec. 6: “Elf”
