On Saturday, the Cougars moved to 9-2 with a 91-78 win over the Missouri State Bears at Beasley Coliseum. It was the Cougs final non-conference home game and WSU will finish a perfect 5-0 in home non-conference games in 2024.
The Cougs are now 2-0 all-time against the Bears.
WSU shot a season-high 62.7% from the floor and made nine of 21 threes.
Isaiah Watts and Dane Erikstrup led the team with 20 points each. Erikstrup added a pair of threes and a pair of blocks. He was the only Coug to foul out of the game. Watts drained four of seven three-point opportunities while adding seven rebounds.
The rest of the Cougs starters all eclipsed ten points, with Ethan Price scoring 12, LeJuan Watts contributing 17 and Nate Calmese dropping 14. The team played a consistent game, and improved as it went on.
Price led the team with seven rebounds and reached 500 career rebounds.
“Ethan, he was my first recruit as a head coach,” said WSU head coach David Riley. “He’s a heck of a player, heck of a person and excited for him to finish out his senior year.”
Price offered his own thoughts on the milestone.
“It’s a big accomplishment…I’m super grateful to be able to do it here,” Price said.
ND Okafor also added eight points off the bench, and added two blocks and two rebounds.
The Cougs offense exploded in the second half to score 57 points.
“I don’t know what it was, but we were getting open looks and hitting a good amount of shots,” Erikstrup said.
The Cougs will next take on the Washington Huskies in the Apple Cup on Dec. 18.
