According to a report by the Spokesman-Review, WSU has hired Mike Iupati and Taylor Lucas as co-offensive line coaches.
Iupati is a former offensive lineman who played college football for the Idaho Vandals just across the state border.
The San Francisco 49ers drafted Iupati with the 17th pick of the first round in the 2010 NFL draft. He would go on to play 11 years in the NFL after he finished with the Vandals.
Iupati played five years for the San Francisco 49ers, four for the Arizona Cardinals and two for the Seattle Seahawks. When he retired from the NFL after the 2020 season, Iupati was a four-time pro bowler (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015) and a one-time all-pro selection (2012).
Iupati has spent the past two seasons as an assistant line coach with the College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho, and was an intern for Jim Harbaugh working with the Chargers offensive line.
Lucas, meanwhile, was with new WSU coach Jimmy Rogers in 2024 as an assistant line coach at South Dakota State University. ‘
