On February 17, 2025, the No. 5 Arkansas Razorbacks completed a four-game series sweep against the Washington State Cougars with a decisive 12-2 victory at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The game was concluded in seven innings due to the run rule.
Junior left-hander Landon Beidelschies delivered a strong performance in his Razorback debut, pitching five innings and allowing just one earned run on four hits. He struck out seven batters and issued one walk, showcasing his potential as a key contributor to the pitching staff.
“I was just trying to fill up the strike zone,” said Beidelschies. “Cutters my pitch, I threw a lot of those, had that working pretty good.”
The Razorbacks’ offense was potent, accumulating 10 hits throughout the game. Designated hitter Kuhio Aloy led the charge with a solo home run in the fourth inning, his second of the season. Catcher Ryder Helfrick and right fielder Carson Boles each contributed doubles, with Boles driving in two runs.
“We got a lot of guys who can do the job,” said Aloy. “I feel like the coaches believe in everyone.”
WSU went to the bullpen early, after Arkansas’ first two batters reached base. Starter Jake Robinson was replaced with Rylan Haider. In relief, Haider put together three shutout innings and struck out two.
The middle innings were particularly productive for Arkansas. In the fourth, they scored five runs, including a two-run single by Wehiwa Aloy, Kuhio’s brother, extending the lead to 5-0. The fifth inning saw an additional six runs, highlighted by Boles’ two-run double and RBI singles from Justin Thomas Jr., Charles Davalan, and Brent Iredale.
“Just trying to compete for my teammates,” said Wehiwa Aloy. “Doing whatever I can to score runs, and just be that guy.”
The Cougars managed six hits in the game. First baseman Ryan Skjonsby doubled and scored a run, while third baseman Ricco Longo doubled in a run.
The victory marked the Razorbacks’ 700th win at Baum-Walker Stadium, a venue that has been their home for 30 years. Since the 2015 season, Arkansas has maintained a remarkable record of 30 consecutive non-conference home weekend series victories.
The Cougars next head to Corpus Christi, Texas where they will compete in the Kleberg Bank Collegiate Classic, which starts on Friday when the Cougars will take on Michigan State.
