President Donald Trump has made the claim he can potentially serve a third term, saying “there are ways” to do it. This statement has caused a massive debate among political commentators and constitutional scholars.
While it may be surprising to some, Trump is correct. Here are a few of the ways Trump could seek a third term.
Killing the electoral college
For those who do not know, the American people do not directly elect the president, the Electoral College, does. Accordingly, if someone were to kill every member of the Electoral College, that would be a big deal.
If this should happen, the Constitution states the next election will be canceled and Trump will be allowed to serve a third term through 2032. For that reason, let’s hope, for the Electoral College’s sake, Trump does not have access to an AK-47.
Trump wears a disguise
Hey, you can not bar Trump from serving a third term if you do not know it is him, right? That is to say, if Trump wears a fake mustache, a top hat and a monocle, sort of like the Monopoly man, and goes by a fake name like “Ronald Chump,” he can definitely serve that third term.
This method would not be without precedent either, as President Bill Clinton sought a third term in the 2000 Democratic party primaries by wearing a fake goatee and a pair of thick glasses and called himself “Tyrone Excalibur.”
Unfortunately for Tyrone, he was discovered during a primary debate when he noticed a 19-year-old not wearing a bra in the audience. His eyes popped out of his head and his jaw dropped to the floor before he started howling like a wolf, revealing his disguise.
Sneaking in with someone else
If Trump does not want to run himself, then he does not even have to. If JD Vance were to get elected in 2028 and Trump sneaks in when he takes the oath of office, he can be president again.
For example, if Vance takes the oath of office standing on Trump’s shoulders, maybe wearing a trench coat that covers both of them so people do not notice, then Trump can be President again. The Constitution clearly states “no take backs,” so it will be too late by the time the nation discovers this clever ruse.
Burning the Constitution
Speaking of the Constitution, it may technically stop Trump from running for a third term, but who’s to say that has to be the law of the land for much longer? If Trump were to set fire to the Constitution, that would end that issue once and for all.
While there are some who believe this move would cause an outrage among the American people, there is no hard evidence to back that up. I mean, when was the last time Americans cared about the Constitution? Hell, if Trump says he is doing it to fight the woke mob, then he will get at least half the country on his side without them even thinking about it.
