After one year at WSU, sophomore forward LeJuan Watts is in the transfer portal and is among the top-50 available players according to On3Sports.
The forward transferred to WSU from Eastern Washington University, following head coach David Riley. He started every game for the Cougars, averaging 13.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.1 steals.
Andrew Florio of BVM Sports wrote that Watts would be able to make an impact wherever he goes.
“He can help almost any team in the country,” Florio wrote.
Watts is ranked by On3Sports as the 37th-best available player in the portal. His solid production, combined with his physical attributes, makes him an enticing player heading into his junior year. At 6 feet 6 inches, he can reach the rim on dunks but also has no trouble shooting from the outside.
His best highlight at WSU was a double-double against Santa Clara. Watts was not the Cougars’ most consistent scorer, but when he was on, he could take over games.
CougFan.com reports that WSU could still bring Watts back with an enticing NIL offer.
“Tim Brandle, co-chair of the Cougar Collective NIL organization, said a concerted effort on the NIL front had produced a ‘lucrative’ package presented to Watts,” writes CougFan.
Watts has previously indicated that he would like to remain at WSU.
“I’m a Coug for sure,” said Watts after WSU’s loss to San Francisco in the WCC quarterfinals.
While his initial statement indicated a return to Pullman, Watts’ decision to test the portal comes along with three other Cougs. Isaiah Watts, Nate Calmese and Marcus Wilson are also testing the transfer portal.
