BookPeople of Moscow will host a book signing for Seattle-based LEGO artist and author Alice Finch at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Finch is a contributing writer with “LEGO: Awesome Ideas” and “365 Things to do with LEGO Bricks,” said BookPeople employee Cassie Sears.

Eureka! Palouse, a group focused on hosting STEM-based classes in Moscow and Pullman, has set up the events with Finch. After her book signing, there will be a LEGO building class open to the public in the afternoon. The class will be located at the Eureka! Palouse Tinkering and Tutoring Center.

The class is open to people ages 6 – 18, and all participants will collaborate to build one large-scale LEGO model of downtown Moscow. For this class, called “Community Big Build,” Eureka Palouse is partnering with the University of Idaho College of Arts and Architecture.

The UI architecture students will help coordinate the children participating in the “Community Big Build” and assigning which buildings they will be working on, said Eureka! Palouse President Jody Opheim.

The class will continue after Finch’s visit, taking place from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. every Thursday and from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. every Friday from October 26 through January 27. More information can be found at the Eureka! Palouse website.
