The right choice for all
November 4, 2014
Today voters in Washington’s 5th district have the opportunity to break the mundane and make a substantial contribution for the state of Washington by voting for Joe Pakootas for United States Congressman.
Pakootas and his family, including six siblings, grew up in Inchelium, Washington. Joe’s past tells the story of a man who has sacrificed repeatedly to support the people he cares about; people like his 5th district constituents.
As an elected official on the Colville Tribal Council for over 16 years, Pakootas has worked with local, state and federal government to promote positive legislation and progressive policies.
One of his prospective policies is a much-needed educational reform with an emphasis in national student loan improvement. Pakootas agrees that education is critical at every level. In addition, he agrees that “(o)ur children shouldn’t graduate from college $23,000 in debt.”
Moreover, given his life-long work experience – in forestry as a teenager, then a union job as a laborer so he could support his family – it is clear that Joe Pakootas knows not only the struggles of edification, but also the gumption and strength it takes to accomplished tasks carefully and completely.
After Pakootas earned a Master in Business Administration from the University of Washington, he returned as CEO of the tribe’s business enterprise, turning losses into profits in just four short years.
Pakootas favors reform that provides aid to the people and helps those in dire need. Pakootas votes in favor of affordable medical care for everyone, including the building of healthcare systems in conjunction with the Affordable Care Act.
If you’re looking for a community man with deep-seeded ties to his citizens, look no further. Joe Pakootas coached high school sports with his wife Cheryl, putting them in touch with the needs of families and children throughout the 5th district.
Additionally, Joe and Cheryl have owned and operated the “Inchelium Short Stop,” a gas station and convenient store serving the community since 1985.
Joe Pakootas believes in a safer Washington: A state where children are protected from harm and the easy accessibility to quality goods and services renders prosperous youth.
Pakootas’ presence as an avid hunter and outdoorsman nurtures great care in gun control policy. To protect the citizens of this state, the implementing of criminal background checks alongside helpful gun control information is a necessity.
Pakootas’ love for the outdoors complements another love – the environment. Pakootas organized a lawsuit geared toward the nullification and proper reprisal of corporate dumping of heavy metals into Lake Roosevelt. The landmark decision led to long-term benefits for the entire region and fostered development and protection of the environment for future generations.
Today is the last chance for voters of the 5th district to make a difference in their state. Make the right choice and vote for Joe Pakootas for United State Congressman and propel Washington State into a safer future of environmental development and economic prosperity.
