Sanctuary Yoga, a Pullman yoga studio, has been offering weekends of events ever since they opened in 2014. This year will be the studio’s fifth year of Mom’s Weekend events, and there are more things planned than ever. The main events will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“The purpose of this is to offer something for everybody to do with their mom and allow people to stay in Pullman,” owner Judy Kolde said.

Sanctuary wants to provide the best of what you might find in a big city.

“Students and their moms can come over the weekend and get their Lululemon fix or can get in a really nice yoga session,” Kolde said.

They will also have live music from DJ Grape Vinyl.

Events will start tonight with a Power Happy Hour, which includes a power class with a black light. Events will continue on Saturday with everything from yin yoga, Zumba, Barre and Vinyasa. Moms are free to attend classes all weekend.

Something new Sanctuary is doing this year is a sister/brotherhood giveaway for Greek chapters on campus.

“If Greek students come to Sanctuary, they can sign a sheet with their name and chapter,” Manager Destiny Sternod said. “The chapter with the most participants will win a free bonding day where the studio is completely theirs for the day.”

Giveaways like this and other deals are going to be happening all day Saturday.

“It takes the community to make a fun college experience, and it’s just one of the ways we give back to the community,” Kolde said.

New this year are the vendors Sanctuary is collaborating with — some of which are unique just for Mom’s Weekend. These vendors include Tamarack Mountain Design, Succulents by Elisa, Lululemon and Alo Yoga.

Main Street Squeeze Juice & Smoothie, which is located inside Sanctuary, is going to be offering deals all weekend. On Saturday it will be serving mimosas for those 21 and older as well as complimentary vegan and gluten-free waffles.

Kolde also started making her own line of candles, called Sanctuary Scents, which are free of chemicals and completely organic, soy-based and made with wood wicks.

“If students or their mom are not big into yoga, we offer a yin or meditative classes, and it’s really for everyone — even if you’ve never done yoga before,” Kolde said.

Especially with all the other events and promotions going on, Kolde hopes to cater to everyone’s interests.

“Students want to show their mom Pullman, and that’s why students bring their mom to Sanctuary,” Kolde said. “Or moms see that Sanctuary is going to be offering free classes and bring their student along. I love seeing students with their parents and showing them Pullman.”

Anyone interested in attending the events can sign up online to guarantee a spot, or if spots are still available, walk-ins are allowed. Yoga mats will be available to check out.
