Unit trains on campus two to three times per year

The Whitman County Regional SWAT team will conduct a training exercise today on campus starting at noon in Commons Hall, WSU Police Captain Mike Larsen said.
He said the unit, which is comprised of officers from WSU Police, the Whitman County Sheriff’s office and the Pullman Police Department, will occupy the third and fourth floors in the building to practice team movement and entry scenarios.
The training should have no impact on vehicle or foot traffic on campus, according to a WSU news release.
Commons Hall is located by the SPARK Building at the corner of Idaho and Washington Street.
The team conducts monthly trainings around Whitman County, Larsen said, and tries to practice on campus two to three times per year in vacant buildings so as not to impact university operations.
