WSU (24-26, 10-17) pitchers walked eight batters and gave up 12 hits as Oregon State (45-4, 27-3) completed a sweep of the Cougars in a 14-3 blowout.

Freshman left-hander A.J. Block started on the mound for the Cougars. Block only lasted the first inning after giving up two runs on two walks and two hits.

Senior left-hander Trenton Dupre relieved Block and allowed one unearned run during his two innings of work before giving way to junior right-hander Ryan Walker.

Walker worked a scoreless fourth inning but fell apart in the fifth. He allowed three runs on three singles and two walks before recording an out. This enabled the Beavers to take a substantial lead.

Junior left-hander Scotty Sunitsch relieved Walker with one out in the fifth as the Beavers continued to surge. A walk followed by a three run home run made it a 10-0 game before Sunitsch could stop the bleeding. OSU sent 10 men to the plate and scored seven times in the fifth. Five runs were charged to Walker.

The Beavers scored four times in the seventh off junior right-hander Joe Rosenstein to increase their lead to 14-0.

Offensively, the Cougars were too little too late.

WSU got on the board in the eighth on junior infielder James Rudkin’s two-out bases loaded single to pick up a couple of runs.

In the top of the ninth, freshman infielder Reagan Teegarden worked a two-out bases loaded walk but junior infielder Shane Matheny followed up by grounding out to end the game.

The Cougars left nine men on base and were looking up all day long to a mammoth score. Oregon State has now won 12 consecutive games after sweeping a relatively hot WSU team.

The Cougars wrap up their season with a three-game series on Thursday against Stanford at Bailey-Brayton Field.
