University organizations request more than $10.5M
April 3, 2017
The Services and Activities Committee will hold deliberations today to determine how much money to allocate to various university groups from Services and Activities fees.
The committee held two meetings last week, during which 17 groups made their requests for summer and the 2017-2018 academic year. The requests from these groups totaled about $10.5 million, with two requests greater than $1 million.
University Recreation and the CUB are requesting the largest amounts, more than $1.5 million each, which is about the same amount both organizations received last year.
Student Involvement is requesting about $940,000, about the same as the committee granted it last year. The athletics department is requesting $765,000, about $10,000 more than it received last year.
The Office of Student Media, which includes The Daily Evergreen, is requesting about $255,000, roughly $70,000 more than it received last year. The office did not ask for an increase last year, but is now seeking new funding to replace a one-time grant from President Elson S. Floyd for advising support.
The committee will meet in Lighty 405 at 5 p.m.
