Market poster contest
March 3, 2017
The Moscow Farmers Market is hosting its annual poster competition to commemorate the market’s 40th year in operation.
Daniel Stewart, manager of the Moscow Farmers Market, has a poster hanging in his office from 2010 and loves to see how the public views the market through their creative submissions.
The contest stemmed from people voluntarily making art related to the market, and first began on the 35th anniversary of the market in 2012.
“It’s a way to establish a long-running relationship with local artists,” Stewart said, “and a way for an artist to expose themselves.”
The poster theme is intended to advertise the market by incorporating various aspects and useful information about the event, along with bright colors and clear writing, Stewart said.
Submissions are open from now until 5 p.m. on April 3. People of all ages and experience levels are welcome to participate, according to the official website of the City of Moscow.
Contest participants can live anywhere within a 200 air-mile radius of Moscow, and posters can be submitted in-person to the Arts Department in Moscow City Hall or sent by mail to the same location, according to the application.
