The aftermath of the Greek row moratorium

Since the moratorium on social events on Greek Row went into effect Nov. 7, crime calls and party incidents have decreased significantly, according to Pullman Police.

Officer T.J. Cornish said there is usually an increase in incidents like assault and overdoses during football weekends, but there has only been one arrest since the Oregon game due to a non-party incident. He said he has also not seen any parties since the moratorium went into effect.

Cornish said the moratorium was set not to punish members of the Greek system but rather to help students realize again what it means to be Greek without involving the partying.

The moratorium is set to end with the start of the spring semester, when the Greek system will reevaluate its social events. Though Cornish said they will probably still have restrictions, they will most likely bring back events such as “date dashes.”
