College of Medicine appoints vice dean of research

From staff reports

The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine has selected a vice dean for research, after he served as interim dean for several months.

John Roll’s position will include promoting and overseeing faculty research, as well as working with the dean and administrators on a plan to grow and diversify the college’s research, according to a news release.

Roll has also been chosen as the associate vice president for health sciences research.

“The juxtaposition of these two positions will ideally facilitate a merging of the historical strengths of WSU with WSU’s developing strengths in human health,” he said.

Roll will continue as a professor in the colleges of medicine and nursing but will leave his position as senior vice chancellor of the WSU Health Sciences Spokane campus.
