Women’s golf moves up to 12th in Arizona

The WSU women’s golf team currently stands in 12th place after two rounds of competition at the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Arizona.

Colorado leads the Cougars in 11th place by three strokes, shooting a 599 after two rounds. UCLA stands in the first place position after going -8 after 36 holes of play. Arizona State went -7 and is currently in second place behind the Bruins.

Sophomore Alivia Brown came in tied with five others for 45th place, including with her senior teammate Nani Yanagi. Oregon State seniors Ashlee Pickerell and Chelsea Saelee were among them as well as Colorado freshman Lauryn Keating.

All five have a total of 151 after going +7.

Senior Monica Huang suffered a downfall, dropping down to 51st place after starting the match tied for 12th. Huang shot an 80, bringing her total score up to 152.

Huang was closely followed by junior Cherokee Kim who came in only one point behind, tying for 56th with Kacie Komoto and Suchaya Tangkamolprasert of Northwestern.

Leading the pack were UCLA teammates junior Bronte Law and freshman Lilia Vu. The duo both finished with total scores of 135, nine under par.
