Best Slice

Great pizza, surrounded by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, can be found at Porchlight Pizza. The business is keeping its flame lit as it was voted Best Pizza by students at WSU for the Students Choice Awards for the second year in a row.
Porchlight prides itself on customer relationships with a friendly staff and fast, affordable food. It has successfully served college students and the community for two years now under the management of George Swanger.
“The pizza that we sell is light, not heavy on your stomach and you can eat an entire pizza without feeling drained throughout the day,” Swanger said.
Porchlight Pizza has a wide variety of delicious signature pizzas and salads to choose from on its menu. The most popular pizza is the Popeye with red sauce, spinach, pepperoni, crushed red pepper, parmesan, mozzarella and balsamic reduction. Customers can also choose the create-your-own pizza option. Drinks include beer and wine, but Swanger said it is not just about the food.
“People come here more for the food, they come back for the atmosphere,” Swanger said. “I want a place where an employee loves to work at because when you have a place where the employee loves to work at, you bring customers a place they love to eat at.”
Swanger and WSU senior Krista Waller are Porchlight veterans and have seen the business grow since it opened on April 2, 2014. Both base their values on customer service and building relationships with the Pullman community.
“As a staff we are really friendly with everybody, customers like how casual it is,” Waller said.
Porchlight Pizza is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on 200 Northeast Kamiaken Street in Pullman.
