The GPSA Executive Board discussed upcoming events and how to advertise their programs more effectively during a meeting Thursday.

Last semester GPSA put on about 10 events. They had between 50 and 60 students attend virtual bingo, and around 20 people attend their virtual dinner night, said Jenn Johnson, GPSA president and executive board chair.

Johnson said GPSA will host another virtual dinner night Feb. 27.

“The members are able to cook their own food in the safety of their homes but still get to eat together as a group,” she said.

If COVID-19 were not an issue, GPSA would be hosting events like ice cream socials, bowling nights and events to support local Pullman businesses, she said.

GPSA is working to improve its email layout to convey announcements better, Johnson said.

James Dalton, vice president of legislative affairs, said that if the emails are not getting enough interaction and engagement, it might be pointless to continue doing them.

However, TaMisha Greathouse, associate director of Student Involvement, said the visual information included in the emails is appealing, so they will need to find a compromise.

Another idea to increase engagement is for GPSA to change the email formatting and instead include links to their main website, said Rachel Wong, programming chair and College of Education representative.

GPSA is currently planning its next three programs. Graduate and professional students are now able to sign up, according to the GPSA website
