Apple Bottom Greens Smoothie
I hate vegetables. In fact, I’m only barely a fan of fruit, so I knew I had to figure something out. This smoothie was sweet, felt healthy but tasted like dessert, and looked pretty, too!
Ingredients: use frozen fruit or add ice for a thicker smoothie
o ½ cup baby spinach
o ½ banana
o ½ apple (I used a Sugar Bee)
o 4 large strawberries
o ¼ cup milk (add more if needed for texture)
o Optional: 1 T Honey
Baby Spice Smoothie
To make a group of recipes about smoothies pushed me to consider “different” flavors so I wasn’t just sharing another mixed berry smoothie (which, adding white chocolate syrup to your mixed berry smoothie will take it to another level). So, taking inspiration from chocolate mole, I came up with probably my new favorite smoothie.
Ingredients: use frozen fruit or add ice for a thicker smoothie
o ½ banana
o ¼ cup cherries
o 4 large strawberries
o 3 orange slices (or 3 T orange juice)
o 2 T cocoa powder
o 1/8 T cayenne pepper
o ¼ cup milk (add more if needed for texture)
o Optional: 1/8 T cinnamon powder
Not-a-Sonic-Knock-Off-at-All Smoothie (aka, Cherry Limeade)
This was risky, and when I mistakenly tried to taste this before blending, I discovered lime juice and milk is gross (which should have been obvious). But blended, this smoothie reminded me of summer and made me pine for summertime.
Ingredients: use frozen fruit or add ice for a thicker smoothie
o ½ cup cherries (I used both black and sweet cherries)
o 4 large strawberries
o 2 T lime juice
o ¼ cup milk
o Optional: fresh mint
o Optional: coconut shavings
Pea-Nuts for This Smoothie
After the success of the spicy chocolate smoothie, I wanted to make something similar with peanut butter to round out the flavors I had used for these recipes. This made a luxuriously smooth smoothie.
Ingredients: use frozen fruit or add ice for a thicker smoothie
o ¼ cup peanut butter
o 2 T cocoa powder
o ½ banana
o ½ apple
o 4 large strawberries
o ¼ cup milk (add more if needed for texture)
