The National Weather Service issued an air quality warning for eastern Washington due to wildfires around the northwest.

The alert warned that children, the elderly and people with respiratory issues are at higher risk of serious health issues due to the smoke.

The warning extended to Okak, Twisp, Chelan, Colville, Spokane, Ritzville, Pomeroy and Pullman. The danger from smoke varies, depending on wind. The warning ends Thursday due to winds that are predicted to clear the smoke and haze from the area.
