It’s been a while since I have done a movie list! Today I will be laying down the opinion hammer on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the release of the new “Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania” (which will not make the list), I thought I should do a run-down of the iconic franchise.

10. “Avengers: Infinity War”

I’m still not quite sure what an “infinity war” is, but this was a pretty solid movie. I think that it was better from a plot standpoint than “Avengers: Endgame” but ranks at 10 on my list because it seemed kind of forced.

9. “Iron Man”

The movie that started it all! I bet nobody (or very few people) guessed that this movie would change the next decade-plus of the movie industry. What I really love about this movie is the fact that the directors and storytellers didn’t have to worry about how the actions of this movie would impact any other storyline in the MCU, they were just able to tell the story without having to worry about implications or an over-critical fanbase.

8. “Avengers: Endgame”

The namesake of the classic “most ambitious crossover event in cinematic history” meme, “Endgame” wasn’t the best movie of all time by any means but it was really cool to see ten years of storylines and characters meet in the climax of the “Infinity Stone Saga.”

7. “Thor: Ragnarok”

“Ragnarok” was a lot of fun, one of the first MCU movies to not take itself too seriously. The plot was pretty solid overall and it was pretty refreshing after the first two Thor movies which were pretty brutal to watch.

6. “Doctor Strange”

A unique Marvel movie at the time of release, it is one of my favorite Marvel movies (hence it making my list). Benedict Cumberbatch is a pretty funny guy and the plot was unusual.The use of magic as opposed to science was a pretty cool break from the Marvel norm.

5. “Spider-Man: No Way Home”

I’m sure you have all seen the big reveal in this movie by now. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprised their renditions of the iconic Spiderman character. I grew up with the Maguire movies and Garfield instantly became my favorite Spiderman after the release of “The Amazing Spiderman.” Being able to see Garfield play Peter Parker on the silver screen again was not only something we needed for our souls but it is something we earned as fans.

4. “Black Panther”

By far one of the best songs to be featured in a Marvel movie, “All the Stars” is such a good song. Chadwick Boseman delivers such a good character performance, and I think Kilmonger is one of the best villains that Marvel has featured so far.

3. “Guardians of the Galaxy”

This movie was an absolute blast when I first saw it. I was in my phase of “classic rock is the only music I will listen to” and GOTG perfectly catered to me in that regard. I wanted to base my entire personality around Chris Pratt’s character Star-Lord. This movie seemed to be the first Marvel movie that took the leap into the humor realm.

2. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”

The plot of SHIELD being infiltrated by HYDRA was a pretty cool thing to see. I think this is one of (if not the best) storylines told up to this point in the MCU. The “friend-fighting-friend” trope is leaned on pretty heavily in this movie which is probably my only complaint.

1. “The Avengers”

This movie was pretty revolutionary when I first watched it in theaters back in 2012. I had no idea that Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor would meet up for a storyline together. The idea of a “connected universe” was never something that I had thought of before and was a really cool idea. I think that the MCU peaked with this movie (I know it was pretty early on in the grand scheme of things), the directors didn’t sacrifice storyline or character development for continuity like they seem to do now.
