Well, the first half-month of school is done and our third print edition is out. We produced our Week of Welcome edition with a fantastic cover and have since completed a 16-page and 12-page paper.
Our staff is slowly growing, but we always look to expand to get new perspectives and stories, and ideas flowing through our newsroom to better serve our students and community.
So far, we have covered the nationally-recognized WSU agricultural department, the fires raging through Washington, the uncertainty of the Pac-12 Conference, the first ASWSU meeting of the semester and continued the Ask Life series of columns, among several other things.
With September at the doorstep, things are about to heat up. With the increased staff, more news stories will be published. Football and volleyball are in full swing. We plan to cover Pullman High School sports seasons as they start. The Student Entertainment Board’s CougFest is next week. The city of Pullman has events lined up for the month and there is always things going on in the community.
The new month will feature two non-standard editions: Sept. 20 will be the first Sports Edition of the year and Sept. 27 will feature a mental health mini-edition. The other two prints of the month will be as usual: traditional covers and layouts.
On our Wednesday production day Sept. 13, the Evergreen will open our doors and invite students and anyone passing by to see how we operate and get to meet the staff. The open house aims to create that face to the name connection that the Evergreen wants to better serve the community.
