With a semester-plus under my belt as Editor-in-chief, being re-elected for the spring semester means that I can hopefully do more to improve the Daily Evergreen. That is my goal. I want to prepare my staff for a career in journalism beyond college, tell new stories and become a more involved newspaper on campus.
As a college paper, a high turnover rate is always going to be an issue, but this semester, our staff size is very promising. We want to cover more, we want to be more involved and that is my challenge for my section editors.
At the start of this semester, I challenged my editors to do more in terms of reporting on club sports and general WSU clubs, more public affairs reporting and just more in general.
Beyond that, there is one big change that the Evergreen will be embarking on. The newsletter (subscribe here) is going to be a bigger focus. We have the goal to publish three times a week and eventually, the goal is to one day bring back daily newsletters as a way to bring the newsroom together more.
We will still be doing weekly prints on the same day, so look out for those every Thursday, but the newsletter will be the go-to place for the most up-to-date and best stories we have to offer.
If you have a news tip, are interested in joining the Evergreen or have any questions, please reach out to me via email at [email protected].
Thank you for reading The Daily Evergreen.
