Hello and welcome back students! My name is Ben DeWitt, and I am the Editor in Chief for The Argonaut, the school newspaper for the University of Idaho.

As new and returning students settle in to their new living accommodations, its important to remember that the Palouse area is home not to one, but to two different Universities. UI and WSU have had their share of rivalries and differences, but there is a one unifying trait that both of them share. They both reside on the Palouse.

Growing up, I spent a lot of time around this area. My grandparents live in a nearby town, so I often found myself exploring the Palouse. The Palouse area has a special charm to it that I can not find in any other place. I’m not completely sure if it’s nostalgia from my childhood, or the beautiful rural aesthetic that the Palouse has, but either way some of the best memories of my life, both in my youth and in my college experience, have been made here.
