The 2025 makeshift Cougar football schedule increased to ten games Tuesday, in the form of a familiar foe. WSU will face off with the Oregon State Beavers twice.
The matchup will not just occur twice in 2025 but in November. The new game is set for Nov. 1, 2025, in Corvallis followed by the previously scheduled game Nov. 29, 2025, at Gesa Field in Pullman.
The rivalry between WSU and OSU dates back to 1903, with the Cougs leading the all-time series 57-48-3. This is the second time the two teams have faced off twice in the same season, with it also occurring in 1945 with Wazzu winning both matchups 33-0 and 13-6 respectively.
WSU entered the day needing three more opponents to fill out the 2025 schedule and now making a compromise to fill one of the spots. The rivalry commonly referred to as the ‘Pac-2 Championship’ will now occur twice in the final season before the new Pac-12 members enter the fray in 2026-27.
The two schools were left alone to represent and rebuild the Pac-12 in 2024-25 following the departure of the 10 former members a season ago. Now amidst the rebuilding years, the two schools take full advantage of their partnership putting the matchup on display twice.
OSU is currently 4-3 in 2024 under new head coach Trent Bray and is led by former Idaho Vandals signal caller Gevani McCoy. The two teams will face off this season on Nov. 23, 2024, in Corvallis, Oregon.
