WSU police found no evidence of reported assault in the parking lot south of Beasley on Oct. 21., according to an update to an earlier incident notification.
The alleged assault of a female student was reported to WSU police on Oct. 25 by the parents of the female student. WSU police then tracked down the student, who confirmed the claims.
On Oct. 28, WSU police announced they had received an official report of the assault. This incident notification, in compliance with the Clery Act, came amidst rumors of a serial rapist in the Pullman-Moscow area.
The initial rumors of a serial rapist in the area were investigated by WSU police, according to a Facebook post from WSU police. The rumors could not be substantiated.
“The rumors of a rape occurring near Beasley Coliseum last week, and of a serial rapist in the area, have not been substantiated by WSU PD,” WSU PD wrote in the post.
In an update to the incident notification on Nov. 5, WSU police announced their investigation found no evidence that the assault occurred. However, they will continue to work with the student to collect any additional information, police said.
WSU police also reiterated that the rumors of a serial rapist in the area are unfounded. No reports of assaults or rapes have been reported in Pullman or Moscow, either on or off the WSU and UI campuses, police said.
