The Cougar Collective is supporting WSU athletes with the help of coffee shipments, which started Oct. 25.
Ol’ Crimson Legendary Brew has been released after the success of Ol’ Crimson Legendary Lager. The coffee beans are being released by the Cougar Collective in collaboration with Indaba Coffee, Joe, and the Ol’ Crimson Booster Club. Indaba and Joe are led by WSU alumni Bobby Enslow, founder and CEO of Indaba, and Brenden Martin, co-founder and co-CEO of Joe.
Joe is a tech company that provides services directed toward coffee shops, and Indaba is a roastery and line of coffee shops local to Spokane.
“I have been working with Indaba over the past six years providing them with technology and I knew Bobby Enslow was a WSU alum,” Martin said. “I reached out to the collective and pitched the idea and it was well received by the leaders of the collective.”
The coffee is an homage to the WSU fans who make the effort to wave the Ol’ Crimson Flag on ESPN’s College GameDay.
“The high-level concepts came out in spring 2024 but really got going once we learned we were able to get permission from Ol’ Crimson Booster Club to build the coffee brand around a college game day tradition that is known on a national level,” Martin said.
Ol’ Crimson Legendary Brew can be purchased directly from the Ol’ Crimson Coffee website and plans to get it in stores are in the works, he said.
“We are updating designs and actively pursuing to get into businesses like Crimson and Gray, The Bookie and other WSU re-sellers,” Martin said. “Our plan is to scale this and get into local grocery stores in the region.”
The Cougar Collective aims to help WSU athletes navigate and facilitate Name Image and Likeness deals. Every purchase of Ol’ Crimson Legendary Brew and Ol’ Crimson Legendary Lager directly supports the Cougar Collective.
Tim Brandle, Cougar Collective Treasurer and board member, said that asking directly for money is one thing, but being able to let Cougs contribute while also getting a product back is amazing.
More products are in the works to be released by the Cougar Collective to go along with Ol’ Crimson Legendary Lager and Brew.
Brandle said the next product in line is wine and multiple people have reached out for other things, like a water, sports drinks and even real estate purchases that could contribute to the Cougar Collective in the future.
