Porn not an accurate representation of real life
Erotica may not be an accurate depiction of sex in real world

Porn has shaped the way many people think sexual encounters should be. The multi-billion dollar industry has had an impact on young people, especially high school and college students. It’s essential to understand the difference between entertainment, and real sex built on emotional connections and consent.
The sex seen in porn is not an exact representation of real life. It’s fabricated through myths related to sexual positions and stimulations.
“Porn is meant to be entertainment, thus there is a type of porn for every kind of sexual desire. Real sex is not fabricated in the same way — people are not perfect,” Matthew Jeffries, director of the Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation Resource Center, said.
Most women and men will guide one another on what they want in bed as far as positions and foreplay. In porn, it’s often choreographed. In addition, like any industry, the quality of an adult film has to meet certain criteria. When shooting a porn scene, directors and performers focus on the angles of the camera for many hours. They even sometimes pause a dozen times to take photos of a specific position from different angles.
“I think that porn creates an expectation that things just flow in a specific way and that it will be perfect. However, there is heavy editing to make it seem that way,” Jeffries said.
The female orgasm is often depicted unrealistically in porn. As a matter of fact, most women don’t orgasm or squirt with penetrative sex right away. Porn stars often fake orgasms and squirt to over eroticize the scene. In reality, one needs to stimulate a female’s nipples, clitoris and other parts of their bodies in order for them to orgasm. Most adult movies don’t show these details which makes men think they are not necessary. The scene focus is always on vaginal masturbation and blowjobs.
Another myth is size — the 6 to 9 inch penis sizes seen in adult movies. The idea that the porn industry is trying to promote is that a larger penis is better for sex and evoking orgasms. In reality, average male penises are about 5 inches long. In addition, penis size, for most people, has minor effects on how good the sex is — it’s often about where contact is made.
“There tends to be an uneven power dynamic between the sexual partners in porn, which does not always seem to cultivate a culture that values consensual sex,” Jeffries said.
There is a huge difference between a man who values a woman’s body and another who values her heart. A couple that’s in love touch each other sensually with passion, love and care. It’s as deep as yearning to feel valued and not lonely. Making love reflects on the connection that’s felt between a man and a woman which leads to natural orgasm, enjoyment and satisfaction.
