As 2025 has officially set in, let’s take a look at ten of the Cougars “must-watch” home games in 2025
- Football: Vs Idaho, August 30th
The battle of the Palouse returns in football for the first time since 2022. WSU is 72-17 all-time against the Vandals in the historic rivalry. Although the game (hopefully) will not be a nail-biter, it will be a warm home game against a local rival that the Cougars should be able to dominate, making it a fun experience for fans.
- Tennis: Vs San Diego, April 18th
When the University of San Diego comes to town in late April, the Cougars will square off against one of the best women’s tennis teams in the West Coast Conference. The Cougars have held their own on the court so far this year, so their match against the Toreros looks like it will be a good one.
- Track and Field: Cougar Classic, April 25th-26th
If you’re a fan of track and field, the Cougar Classic is the place to be. The weekend before finals week, WSU will host various schools in their annual track and field tournament. Last year, multiple future Olympians competed in the Cougar Classic.
- Women’s basketball: Vs San Francisco, February 20th
The Cougs already defeated San Francisco on the road, but their game at Beasley should be another tight game against a good conference opponent. The Cougars and Dons are both 7-4, tied for 4th place in a very competitive WCC. It will also be senior night for the Cougs.
- Baseball: Vs Air Force, May 2nd-4th
Air Force won the Mountain West last year and looks like it will be a force to be reckoned with again in 2025. They come to Pullman the weekend of senior graduation, giving recent graduates and their families a great series to catch.
- Women’s basketball: Vs Pacific, January 30th
The Cougs and Tigers are tied at 7-4, both teams within a game-and-a-half of first-place Gonzaga in the WCC. WSU beat Pacific by eight on the road in December in a tight match, and the rematch is sure to be a thriller.
- Football: Vs Oregon State, November 29th
If last year’s contentious game at Corvallis was any indication, the rivalry between WSU and Oregon State is stronger than ever. When the Beavers come to town the Saturday after Thanksgiving, they will have already played the Cougars earlier that month. While neither team is expected to compete for the playoffs next year, their spirit of rivalry and the potential for a revenge storyline will make this one worth watching.
- Women’s basketball: Vs Saint Mary’s, February 22nd
WSU beat Saint Mary’s by nine on the road, and are currently half a game behind them in the WCC standings. They will be the last difficult home game the Cougars play before the WCC tournament, and it could potentially be a game for the second seed in the WCC.
- Men’s basketball: Vs Gonzaga, February 19th
The Cougars will more than likely be big underdogs when they host Gonzaga in late February, but that does not take away from the stakes of the game. The game represents a massive Quad 1 opportunity at home for the Cougs and a rare chance for WSU fans to see a top-25 team at home. The Gonzaga vs WSU rivalry is still heating up and will continue long into the future with Gonzaga now joining the Pac-12. This showdown will be a preview of what is to come.
- Football: Vs Washington, September 20th
As it is every year, the Apple Cup should be the most anticipated game of the season for WSU, and this year it will be held on the Palouse after being played in Seattle the past two seasons. The Cougs won the Apple Cup last year and should challenge the Huskies again in 2025. With the home crowd on their side, who says the WSU can not pull off another dramatic upset?
