Police responded to structure fire at apartment complex

From staff reports

Emergency personnel responded to a structure fire at the College Crest apartment complex on Terre View Drive this evening. Pullman Fire Chief Mike Heston said the report came in just before 4:30 p.m. with the caller saying the floor felt warm to the touch and they saw smoke. The fire was contained and extinguished shortly after.

The fire occurred on the second floor of the three-story building and appeared to be electrical in nature, possibly caused by a heating unit. Heston said an electrician was working in the apartment earlier in the day; however, the firefighters determined this was not the cause.

Police assisted in evacuating the complex initially, Heston said. The damage is most likely confined to the immediate area and responders are now letting other occupants back into their apartments.
