The 2014 Dad’s Weekend football game against Arizona will take place this Saturday, and there is still a chance the Cougars can reach a bowl game.

The Cougar football team may be No. 6 in the North Division, but WSU Athletic Director Bill Moos and WSU Cougar Athletic Fund (CAF) Assistant Director of Development Jason Gesser still believe the Cougars have a chance to be bowl eligible and finish this season off with a bang.

After four straight night games this season, the Cougars will compete against in the Wildcats during the day on Saturday.

Moos announced on his Monday radio show, Cougar Calls, the football game against USC next week will kick-off at 1:30 p.m. This gives WSU two afternoon games in a row.

Since these games will not run into the night, fans have no reason to leave early.

“You don’t need to worry about getting home at two in the morning,” Moos said. “No excuses. Let’s stay in our seats and win this football game this week.”

Arizona (5-1) is ranked No. 3 in the conference. The team recently suffered their first loss against USC with a final score of 28-26.

If the Cougars want to beat Arizona this Saturday, Moos said, the WSU fan base must be in the stands when their team takes the field against the Wildcats.

“I’m going to challenge our Cougars to make sure we fill Martin Stadium,” Moos said. “Stay there until the very end because it’s going to make a difference. We still can make some noise in this Pac-12 North.”

As the Cougars prepare to play their seventh game of the season, Gesser predicted the team can win every remaining game if they have right mindset.

“Any game you go into you have a chance of winning,” Gesser said. “It takes one game at a time.”

Though the WSU football team is currently at 2-5 record this season, the program has evolved and improved throughout the years in terms of performance, according to Moos.

“I don’t think anybody would question,” Moos explained. “This is a better team than we had a year ago.”

After witnessing Arizona’s five game winning streak snapped by USC, Moos commented on how the Pac-12 continues to prove its unpredictability.

“There is just so much parody in this conference.” Moos said.

During Bill’s Crystal Ball, a short segment on Cougar Calls in which KXLY radio host Bud Nameck asked for predictions of the Pac-12 future in ten years, Moos and Gesser expressed evolution of the conference.

“You will see continued parody.” Moos said. “Teams that you wouldn’t expect to be on top may result in a front-runner ten years from now.”

On a personal level, Moos has his own plan for the next decade.

“In ten years, you can find me cheering in the stands after tailgating with my friends,” Moos said. “That’s a ways off, we’ve got some work to do before that.”
