According to owner and manager Mary Jane Smith, Pullman and Whitman County’s first marijuana retailer is opening tomorrow.

Smith received her license to sell recreational marijuana from the Washington State Liquor Control Board Wednesday, nine months after filing her initial application back in December.

MJ’s Pot Shop will offer a selection of five different strains. One gram costs $35, regardless of the strain.

Because marijuana is still federally illegal, and every bank is federally insured, MJ’s Pot Shop only accepts cash.

Smith said she hopes customers are willing to be gracious, especially in the first few days after she opens.

“The key is to be patient,” Smith said. “We are learning a whole new system here.”
