Spokane man arrested for driving wrong way in stolen minivan

From staff reports

A man was arrested Tuesday evening after he was allegedly caught driving a stolen minivan in the wrong direction on Maiden Lane.

A Pullman police officer pulled over Gary S. Walters, 47, of Spokane around 9 p.m. after identifying the vehicle as one stolen earlier that evening.

The 2005 Chevy Venture was reportedly parked behind Dissmore’s IGA on Grand Avenue – unattended, with its doors unlocked and with the keys in the center console.

Walters’ dog was also found in the vehicle.

The minivan was returned to its owner, and Walters was booked into the Whitman County Jail on a charge of second-degree possession of a stolen object.

The dog was taken to a shelter.
