71-year-old says two men struck him with a baseball bat

The victim of a recent assault near the Snake River said two men struck him and his car with a baseball bat before driving away in an off-white sedan.

Deputies from the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident, which took place June 8 near the Nisqually John Landing.

The 71-year-old victim told the sheriff’s office his assailants started yelling after they approached his vehicle at the landing. He reported the incident later that day from the Tri State Hospital in Clarkston, where he drove himself afterward.

The suspects are described as 19 to 30 years old. The victim said they caused damage to a headlight and door of his car.
