Deputies arrest woman in connection to rash of north-county burglaries

From staff reports

COLFAX—After a several weeks of investigating a rash of burglaries and break-ins in northern Whitman County, deputies from the sheriff’s office have made an arrest related to an April burglary at the Stateline Processing Plant just west of Tekoa.

Shelia R. Evans, 33, of Tekoa, was arrested this weekend for her involvement in the burglary, according to a press release by the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office. Evans admitted her involvement and was booked into the Whitman County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary and third-degree theft.

Evans was one of several suspects in a series of burglaries and thefts investigated last fall in the Tekoa area, for which she was convicted and sentenced to jail. She was released from the jail in April.

Deputies are investigating other burglaries they believe to be related.
