Tow truck drivers work to remove two cars involved in an accident on Kamiaken Street, Thursday, April 10.

FROM STAFF REPORTS

A five-car accident occurred on Southeast Kamiaken Street outside Paradise Creek Brewery Thursday.

The driver hit three parked cars. One of those cars then slid into another car, resulting in a four-car pileup.

There were no serious injuries reported, but the unidentified male driver was sent to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Greg Umbright, the Pullman Police officer in charge of the scene, said they do not believe the driver was intoxicated or impaired in any way.

Umbright said he would be talking with the driver in the hospital later to get more details as to how the accident happened.

Stephanie Parzuchowski, one of the witnesses whose car was towed away, observed the last of the accident from her office window.

“I was on the phone and remember hearing it,” Parzuchowski said. “I looked out my window and saw the driver swipe the last car.”

Umbright said it might be possible that the driver panicked after hitting the first car, causing him to hit the gas rather than his brakes.
