Police assess the aftermath of a traffic accident on Main Street, Thursday, March 27.

FROM STAFF REPORTS

A four-car accident involving WSU Baseball Head Coach Don Marbut blocked turning traffic at Stadium Way and Main Street around 5 p.m. last night.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing Marbut’s truck careening down Main Street at around 40 to 45 mph. The truck allegedly swerved into opposing traffic, drove over a median, and crashed into three cars.

One eyewitness said it looked like the truck’s tire went flat before the truck crashed off the road.

Two of these eyewitnesses identified the driver of the truck as the baseball coach, and Pullman Police officer Matt Burkett confirmed that Marbut was indeed the driver.

Marbut was transported to Pullman Regional Hospital, treated and released for injuries related to the accident.

A press release from Craig Lawson, a sports information director, said Marbut was on his way to the Cougar baseball game at Bailey-Brayton Field yesterday evening. He did not coach this game and is not expected to coach the game on Friday.
